Annulments

A sacramental marriage is, by its nature, permanent so long as both spouses are alive.

The Catholic Church does, however, have a formal process by which a marriage can be deemed ‘null’ by reason of a serious defect that was present from the beginning of the marriage.

This process is called the ‘annulment process.’

If a marriage is deemed null, the Church considers that the marriage never actually took place, even though the external rites may have been followed, and that the participants are thus free to marry in the Church.

If you would like to pursue an annulment, please contact the Parish Office at 303-798-8506.
