What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is an understanding that everything we have been given belongs solely to God and does not belong exclusively to ourselves. We are “stewards” of the time, talent and treasure that God has given to us and so we are called to generously give back to God what He first gave to us.

There are three common areas in which we are called to be good stewards: time, talent and treasure. We give back our time in prayer, our talent in ministry, and our treasure in charity.

The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Cor 9: 6-7)
