Gift of Treasure

Why Do We Give?

God asks only for a tithe, or a tenth, in thanksgiving for what he has done. But what should you give? He asks us to give of our time, talent, and treasure, not because he has a need for these gifts, but because he knows that we need to give for our own happiness. Then, when he sees our response in love, he gives us even more of his love and grace. So, what begins as a gift from God, becomes a gift to God, and results in a greater outpouring of love and grace from God.

The Stewardship categories of Time, Talent, and Treasure underscore the four core values of an authentically lived Christian life: identification with Christ, trust in God, gratitude toward God, and love for God and each other.

Confused about Gift of Treasure vs. Capital Campaign?

Let’s get some clarity around these two very important events. The Gift of Treasure campaign, our annual stewardship drive, is happening right now! This campaign is about providing for the day-to-day needs of the parish by consistently and regularly giving back to God from the financial gifts that He has given you. Fr. Javier will ask for your commitment at the altar next weekend.

The capital campaign (themed Celebrate the Sacraments…A New Beginning for the Family) is about updating or improving our campus and, most importantly, refocusing our attention on the sacraments through changes in the sanctuary. After the New Year, we will be asking for your sacrificial gift that is over and above your regular Gift of Treasure during a six-month capital campaign.

I hope this information is helpful. If you still have questions, please contact Director of Business Operations Sarah Norton at 720.283.4732 or snorton@stmarylittleton.org.
