The Sacrament of Baptism for Infants

We are excited to celebrate your child’s Baptism at St. Mary Parish! Any child under the age of 7 can be baptized by the faith of his/her parents. Below are the steps to get started:

Step One – Register
Please complete the registration form here.

Step Two – Schedule the Baptism
We normally offer Baptisms at specified Masses each weekend:

1st Weekend: 4:30 pm Saturday Mass
2nd Weekend: 9:30 am Sunday Mass and 1:00 pm
3rd Weekend: 11:30 am Sunday Mass
4th Weekend: 5:00 pm Sunday Mass and 1:00 pm
5th Weekend: 11:30 am Sunday Mass

There are no Baptisms during Mass in Lent from March 6 – April 21. The 1:00pm times are still available during Lent.

There are occasional adjustments to the normal schedule. Please contact David Suddjian at to select a specific date.

Step Three – Godparents (Sponsors)
You may have one or two Godparents (Sponsors). If you have two Godparents they must be one male and one female. At least one of your sponsors must be a Godparent that meets all of the requirements listed on the Godparent form. The second sponsor, if you have one, can be a Godparent or a Christian Witness. A Christian Witness is a non-Catholic Christian sponsor. Godparents are required to have attended a Baptism prep class at least within the last two years. They are welcome to attend our class, but are welcome to complete one at their home parish as well. All Godparents must complete a Godparent Eligibility Form, signed by their pastor, and return it to us within two weeks of the scheduled Baptism date.

Step Four – Take the Baptism Class
Parents and Godparents must have attended a Baptism prep class within the last two years. We provide a three-hour class and mini-retreat for parents and Godparents to prepare for baptism, the first Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. Our class is held from 9:00am – 12:00pm in the Pastoral Center every third Saturday of the month. Please contact David Suddjian at to let us know what class you plan on attending.

There is no Baptism Prep Class on Holy Saturday, April 20th.

The Sacrament of Baptism for Adults and Children Over the age of Seven

If you are an adult and would like to be baptized into the Catholic faith, you will be a part of our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, or RCIA, program. Please click here for more information. Children over the age of seven have reached the age of reason and are no longer baptized by the faith of their parents, but must learn and embrace the basics of the faith for themselves. They will be a part of our RCIA for Children program. Please click here for more information.
