Children’s Ministries

Nazareth Opens the Word (Ages 4 yr–5 yr) 9:30am Mass

At every 9:30am Mass, children are invited to participate in an age-appropriate Bible Study during the Liturgy of the Word. The priests will call children to the altar during Mass, give a special blessing, and dismiss them to Ave Maria Hall (in the church basement) led by a children’s minister. Children return prior to the Eucharistic Prayer.

Nazareth Elementary School (Grades K–4) Faith Enrichment Program

Nazareth Elementary School (E.S.) is a youth-ministry style faith enrichment program (a companion program to Bethlehem above) whose mission is “Supporting parents’ mission of guiding each young Catholic on the path of holiness through the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.” Nazareth E.S. is an engaging program where children in grades K-4 have fun, make friends and share faith in a dynamic environment and learn how to live the sacraments they are preparing for or have received in Bethlehem. Sessions are on Wednesdays, with two sessions to choose from: 3:15–4:30 pm or 6:00–7:15 pm

Each week, we begin with teen and adult leaders facilitating small group prayer, Sunday gospel sharing, and discussion around living the virtues. In large-group assembly we review the lessons through creative means of sacred art, imagination, drama, music and other fun activities. Finally, buddy pairs share crafts, games, merit pin award celebrations and fellowship through special projects and their Nazareth Booklets. A family guide, Celebrating Sundays for Catholic Families helps families prepare at home for Sunday Mass through simple activities.
